Why this exists

In the founder's own words — what this project is, and why it matters.

Liveblocks is a set of APIs and tools that enable developers to add collaborative features to their products. It provides real-time presence (who else is online), live cursors, collaborative text editing, comments and threads, version history, and AI copilots — all via a few lines of code. Works with any framework or vanilla JS. Features include pre-built floating comments UI, annotations, an Account Management dashboard, and dedicated DevTools for debugging collaborative state. Used by teams building Figma-style collaboration, document editors, and multiplayer apps.

Adding multiplayer presence to an existing React app took under an hour with Liveblocks. The floating comments component is production-ready out of the box — text anchoring, thread resolution, mention notifications. Compared to building the WebSocket plumbing yourself, the DX improvement is massive.
